We have all kinds of specialized action cameras and drones to capture the footage we need, but how many times have you seen a single device trying to cover all your needs? PITTA aims to become your go-to selfie camera; it can be hand-held, it can be mounted, and yes… it can certainly fly.

A modular design
PITTA is pleasing to the eye, but its spherical, 6.7-inch, 200-gram body is not all the device has to offer. The unit is a hybrid of sorts. It can adapt to different use cases thanks to its modular design. A removable section of the sphere is held by magnets, and can be replaced with either the drone or action camera modules.
Power
Simply place it over its charging cradle when it’s time to juice up. This won’t happen to often if you stick to the action camera module – the PITTA can record over 100 minutes on a single charge. Stick the drone module in there and battery life is shortened to about 15 minutes of flight time, though.
So, what can it do?
This is a camera before anything else, right? Having all the features and doing backflips (it doesn’t) will serve you no purpose if the footage is subpar. Thankfully, the product’s makers promise a good experience. The 13 MP sensor can output 4K video at 30 fps. It also counts with software image stabilization and all the features you can think of. Seriously… this thing can do everything.
Some feature include burst shot, time-lapse, slow motion, live-streaming and panorama. And if you are letting PITTA spread its wings, it can do a lot more. The app will let you easily control the mini drone, but you can also let it free and have it control itself. Its autonomous mode allows it to track and follow the user. Alternatively, you can make it orbit around you, creating that awesome footage that was only seen in movies some years ago.
It is terrain-aware, meaning there is no need to worry about PITTA crashing into trees and other obstructions. Don’t you worry about losing it, either. GPS is built right into the product and it can fly right back home on its own.
Not into all this adventure stuff? Surely, you will enjoy leaving it at home and using it as a security camera to check on your belongings and loved ones when away.
Who is signing up?
Interested? It is looking very promising, at least on paper. As always, you can go ahead and check out the Kickstarter campaign for more details. The link button is right below.
PITTA is looking to be a great product, blowing through its $50,000 goal in no time. For as low as $289, you can certainly do much worse than this, considering how expensive action cameras and drones can get.
