Oi Deploys Software to Enhance In-Home Wi-Fi Performance in Brazil
Brazilian broadband service provider Oi has deployed Nokia’s Corteca software suite to manage its Wi-Fi CPE devices installed in customers’ homes. The software deployment, which manages millions of Wi-Fi devices, is claimed to be the largest to date in the Latin American region, according to an official release on Tuesday. This move addresses prevalent issues with in-home connectivity, such as complex installations and coverage inconsistencies.

Enhanced Visibility and Remote Management

According to Nokia, Corteca provides better visibility into what’s happening on the customer’s premises, along with tools that allow operators to remotely improve or optimise Wi-Fi performance. Operators will also be able to proactively monitor Wi-Fi networks and network-wide broadband device deployments in the cloud.

Benefits for Oi and Customer Experience

Oi plans to use Corteca Cloud to manage millions of Wi-Fi devices, including end-user tickets related to home Wi-Fi issues, eliminating the need to send technicians to sites. The provider will also be able to offer new services through the application marketplace. Additional cloud features enable Oi to identify and locate stolen ONTs.

Performance Improvements

The CTO at Oi said, “We are excited about the results achieved with Nokia Corteca Cloud. It has become an essential pillar in our Customer Experience Center. The platform has significantly increased efficiency in service management, positively impacting customer satisfaction, as evidenced by the notable rise in our Net Promoter Score (NPS).”

The companies noted that the home connectivity software suite improves Wi-Fi performance and enhances the customer experience while helping operators unlock new revenue streams, reduce operational costs, and manage assets with anti-theft functionality. The solution can increase peak-hour Wi-Fi throughput by 70 percent and reduce the average handling time of helpdesk calls by 50 percent, Nokia said.
