Ciphr releases real-time payroll software for the private sector

An HR, payroll, and benefits software provider, Ciphr, has announced the release of real-time payroll software aimed at helping private sector services streamline payroll processing.

Ciphr’s latest iteration of its software is an updated version of Shape Payroll, which was purchased by Ciphr in June 2024. The upgraded platform is designed with a range of new features to improve user experience, including a new user interface and overview dashboard. The features help alleviate the risk of human error and reduce time-consuming manual payroll tasks.

Julie Lally, MD of payroll at Ciphr, said the company has “listened to what UK payroll professionals want and have focused on solving the challenges they face with their payroll technology.”

“It can be implemented at pace and integrates with other systems through APIs. It delivers a beautiful user experience, maximising efficiency and removing manual processes,” she said.

According to Lally, this latest version boosts productivity thanks to its “intuitive navigation and workflows, and robust reporting. The time savings are huge, enabling payroll teams to focus less on laborious admin and more on doing what they do best.”

Ciphr payroll is API-led and cloud based, integrating with other business systems online. It was designed with real-time operations in mind, so employee data like salaries and personal information is synchronised to an organisation’s payroll system.

The data can be sent between HR and payroll systems and other workforce management systems. The processing of an employee’s pay and possible changes that may impact wages are updated immediately on an individual’s payslip.

According to Ciphr, one of the advantages of its cloud-based payroll solution is the speed of implementation. Its “retrospective parallel run testing” helps eliminates need for multiple payroll tests that are traditionally performed. The company states that organisations can save up to two months between choosing this payroll platform and it being fully operational.

Benefits are listed as centralised data security, single-sign-on (SSO) as standard, online access, and no downtime for system upgrades or maintenance.

The payroll system has several automation features, including calculations for rolled-up holiday pay, backpay adjustments, earnings, pro-ration, absences, and auto-enrolment letters.

CEO of Ciphr, Sion Lewis, CEO of Ciphr, commented on the new payroll system, saying, “This is the payroll system that the market has been waiting for. [It will have] a very positive impact on the payroll professionals who use, and rely on Ciphr’s software and solutions.”
