Autonomous agents continue to reshape the trajectory of enterprise AI. Evolving beyond basic automation, these systems can analyze dynamic data, adapt in real time, and make informed business decisions.

Recognizing the growing role of autonomous agents, NTT DATA, a $30B+ global digital business and IT services provider, has launched its Smart AI Agent Ecosystem, a comprehensive platform designed to drive the adoption of enterprise-grade AI solutions.

While many enterprises are still experimenting with GenAI use cases, NTT DATA is signaling that the future lies in agentic systems.

One of NTT DATA’s goals is to make the transition to its new ecosystem as transformative as possible, without being disruptive. Some of the new tools, like its patented plug-in, support this by converting legacy RPA bots into autonomous intelligent agents. With its backward compatibility, businesses can protect their past tech investments while continuing to modernize their operations with advanced AI capabilities.

Another key feature is the Managed Agentic Services, which help organizations through the full AI lifecycle. This includes everything from planning how AI agents fit into existing workflows to developing and deploying them in real business environments. The goal with this feature is to make AI integration as smooth and effective as possible.

The ecosystem also includes the Smart AI Agent Platform, which comes with built-in tools that make it easier for businesses to use AI. It includes accelerators, utilities, and a marketplace where companies can find reusable AI agents, large language models (LLMs), and small language models (SLMs). Users can also tap into the new Assured Outcome Solutions, which allows businesses to have AI agents designed specifically for their industry.

The AI agents have been designed by NTT DATA to work across different cloud platforms, including Azure, AWS, and Google Cloud. Taking a “cloud agnostic approach means that businesses aren’t locked into a single cloud provider and can move their AI systems as needed. This could be a particularly useful feature for enterprises that have fluctuating demand and need flexibility in their systems so they don’t have to overhaul their infrastructure.

NTT DATA’s leadership frames this launch as a foundational moment in the transition from task automation to intelligent orchestration. “The rapid evolution of AI presents both immense opportunities and challenges for businesses,” said Yutaka Sasaki, President and Group CEO, NTT DATA Group. “At NTT DATA, we have developed the comprehensive capabilities needed to guide our clients through these transformative times and empower them to shape their future with the power of AI.”

With the Smart AI Agent Ecosystem, NTT DATA is targeting core sectors, including healthcare, manufacturing, and finance. In healthcare, the AI agents can help with triage insurance appeals and assess medical necessity. It could predict early interventions, track medication compliance, and detect fraud.

Automotive companies are moving toward autonomous quality control. NTT DATA shared that its new ecosystem could help them analyze defects, review regulatory warnings, and even initiate recalls. In finance, smart agents can help enhance compliance by assisting with Know Your Customer (KYC) processes, fraud detection, and transaction validation in real time. NTT Data also shared other applications, including supply chain and marketing use cases.

The Smart AI Agent Ecosystem is backed by a broad alliance network that signals serious intent to scale. NTT DATA’s collaboration with OpenAI includes a new Center of Excellence focused on developing practical GenAI services for specific industries.

The company is also keen to work with innovative startups, including Rafay Systems, which is helping optimize GPU-based infrastructure to ensure AI workloads run efficiently at scale. Kore.ai is another key partner, working to integrate LLM-powered virtual agents into workplace automation, improving how businesses interact with AI-driven assistants and workflows.

Abhijit Dubey, CEO of NTT DATA, described the Smart AI Agent Ecosystem as “more transformative than GenAI,”. He said, “It’s not just about boosting creativity or productivity. It’s about unlocking new capabilities that can take initiative, make decisions, and collaborate with humans in entirely new ways.”

“With our deep expertise in responsible innovation, trailblazing alliances, and visionary clients, we’re excited to lead this future — building the foundation for a reimagined human-machine hybrid workplace and a bold new business landscape.”

With the new ecosystem, NTT DATA is positioning itself as a full-spectrum architect of the agentic enterprise. It’s making a deliberate bet on agentic AI as the next real shift in enterprise tech. With the emphasis on industry-specific solutions, NTT DATA is carving out a practical path for organizations to adopt agentic AI in ways that align with real business processes.
